Sow outdoors in very early spring. Prefers full sun and loose evenly moist soil amended with plenty of organic matter. Before planting, loosen the soil to a depth of 8" to help the roots grow straight. Be patient! carrots can be slow to germinate.
Loosen the soil with a garden fork before harvesting. Cut off the green tops 1/4-1/2" from the top of the carrot, and rinse and dry the root before storage.
