Select a location with full sun and rich fertile soil. For best results, chill seed in the refrigerator for 2-3 weeks before planting. Sow directly in the garden as soon as soil can be worked, or up to 2 months before the first fall frost. For transplants, start seed indoors 6-8 weeks before planting.
Cut back flower stalks after the first blooms fade to encourage another set. Keep plants evenly moist throughout the season.
